A 10 yard dumpster rental in Lexington, KY gets you the smallest roll-off we've got. It's for the job that's too much for your green cart but nowhere close to gutting a house. Figure a few pickup-truck loads' worth, sitting in your driveway until you're finished.
A garage or shed cleanout
A small bathroom redo: the old vanity, toilet, tile and drywall
Carpet and pad from a room or two
A small deck or a stretch of fence coming down
Cleanup left over after a bigger project
An apartment or condo cleanout, if the truck can get to it
Doing the basement and the garage, or tearing out a whole kitchen? That's more like a 20 yard dumpster.
More often than people think. Redoing the one bathroom in a Kenwick bungalow, clearing the closets and attic in an older house inside New Circle, or emptying out a one-car garage will usually fit. Building material isn't allowed in the green cart at all, and the cart tops out at 200 pounds anyway. Bulky pickup is for things like chairs, desks and mattresses. Once you've outgrown both, a small roll-off makes sense.
Can't decide between a 10 and a 20? Tell us what's coming out and we'll give you a straight answer. Guess too small and you'll be stuck waiting on a second haul.
A small box can still get heavy. Shingles, brick, concrete and dirt pile on the pounds long before the box looks full. That's why the City caps concrete and masonry at a quarter of its own 10 yard Loan-a-Box. Dumping is charged by weight, so a box of busted-up concrete costs a lot more to get rid of than a box of old furniture.
Be upfront on the phone about what you're loading so the box matches the load.
Keep tires, batteries, liquid paint and anything with asbestos out of it. A fridge, freezer or window AC unit still has refrigerant in it, so it can't ride along with the drywall. If you get city trash pickup, call LexCall at 311 and schedule an appliance pickup. The City recycles them. Unsure about something else? Ask before it goes in.
Usually the driveway, and a 10 is the easiest of our sizes to fit on a short one. The street is a different deal in Lexington. You need a lane blockage permit from the City's Traffic Engineering office, and they'll turn it down if the dumpster could sit on your property instead. Got an HOA? Read its rules before delivery day. If you live in Gratz Park, Bell Court, South Hill or one of the other historic districts, exterior work needs City sign-off first. Get that done, then call.
Call (859) 203-0319 and run through what's going in. If a 10 is too small, we'll tell you, and we can talk about the 20 yard or 30 yard instead. You can also read how it works or see our residential dumpster rental page.
