Some projects outgrow the green cart fast. The City's green cart has a 200-pound weight limit, and it can't take bricks, dirt or building material. Once a cleanout or remodel gets past that, a roll-off in the driveway is usually the easier way to go. You load it at your own pace instead of hauling trip after trip in the back of a truck.
If you're on city trash service and only have a couch or a few big items, the City's bulky item pickup may be all you need. A dumpster makes more sense when the pile keeps growing, when you're tearing something out, or when you want it gone on your own schedule.
A loaded roll-off is heavy. If your concrete is new or your asphalt is soft, tell us before delivery so we can talk through where to set it. Point out low wires, tree limbs and anything parked where the truck needs to back in.
Fridges, freezers and window AC units hold refrigerant, so they need their own route. Old paint, pool chemicals, propane tanks and car batteries go to the City's household hazardous waste days. Tires stay out of the dumpster too. If you're not sure about something, ask before it goes in.
If the dumpster has to sit on a public street, the City requires a lane blockage permit from Traffic Engineering, and it won't issue one if there's room on your property. That's why we'll usually look at your driveway first. Ask the City what applies to your address before delivery day.
Check your HOA's rules before delivery day. In Gratz Park, Bell Court, South Hill and the other historic districts, exterior work needs City sign-off first.
Tell us how long your project will run when you call, and we'll set it up around your timeline.
